The first stanza was close early as UNCG pulled in front 8-6 after a NSU service error. The Blue and Gold extended its lead to 13-9 after a Norfolk State attacking error and started to roll from there. Following a NSU timeout, a Jones kill capped a 5-2 run that saw UNCG go up 18-11. The Spartans allowed the visitors just three more points the rest of the set in the 25-14 victory.
NSU was the aggressor in the second frame scoring six of the first nine points to establish some early momentum. Norfolk State held a 10-8 lead later in the stanza following a block by Hope Forsythe and Dominique Parker but UNCG put together a 9-4 run to assume a 17-14 advantage and draw a timeout from the visitor bench. NSU could not catch the Blue and Gold despite its best efforts as the Spartans eventually won the set 25-19 and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
UNCG was the first to 10 in the third frame and held a four-point lead at that point after a kill by Muench. The teams split the next eight rallies to make the score 14-10 but the serve of Brezwyn helped the Blue and Gold push out to an insurmountable 18-10 lead. Sophomore outside hitter Katie Wagner would later finish the sweep off with a kill as UNCG captured the third set 25-14.
