Murray, Ky. – The UNCG women's basketball team continues its road swing Sunday, November 20, when the Spartans face Murray State at 3 p.m. (ET). The Blue & Gold is looking for its third straight win and first win against Murray State in program history. Sunday marks the first time the Racers and Spartans will meet.
UNCG is coming off its first road win of the season after holding off a late Tennessee Tech rally in the fourth quarter of last Thursday night's game. The Spartans were led by Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) who had 22 points, 21 in the first half. Freshman Alexis Pitchford (Orlando, Fla./Winter Park) dished out a career-high 10 assists, which ranks tied for eighth in the UNCG record books for single-game assists.
Te'ja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) posted her first career double double against TTU scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Thursday night's win vs. the Golden Eagles marked the first road win under head coach Trina Patterson and UNCG's first victory on the road since December 21, 2015, when the Blue & Gold defeated Cleveland State at the Tulane Holiday Tournament in New Orleans, La.
MSU is 2-1 this season suffering its first loss, 70-63, at Southern Illinois last Thursday night. Ke'Shunan James became the 19th member of Murray State's 1,000-point club in the loss at SIU. She had a team-high 20 points in the loss while Jasmine Borders scored 16 points and made a quartet of three-pointers.
