GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's basketball team (4-2) faces Maryland-Eastern Shore Tuesday, November 29, at 6 p.m. in Princess Anne, Md. It marks the fourth time the two will meet in program history. Last season, the Spartans defeated UMES, 71-51, at home in Greensboro December 28, 2015.
Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) ranks 26th in the nation in scoring and is the nation's top-freshman scorer. She lead's the Spartans with 20.8 points and six rebounds per game. Shanese Harris (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) is the Blue & Gold's second leading scorer and is coming off a career-high performance with 21 points against Greensboro College last Sunday.
Jade Scaife (Fort Washington, Md./Archbishop Spalding) returned from injury to post a team-best 13-rebound performance Sunday. She's averaging 5.7 boards per game this season while Te'ja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) leads the Spartans with 7.5 rebounds per game.
The Hawks (2-2) look to get back on track after a 77-58 loss against NC State November 21. UMES is averaging 66 points per game and is shooting 37.1 percent from the field as a team. Ciani Byrom and Mariah McCoy are averaging 13.5 and 13.0 points per game, respectively. McCoy is shooting 56.3 percent from three-point range this season while the team is averaging 36.0 percent from downtown.
