GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's basketball team is set to face VCU (5-5) Sunday at 1 p.m. in Richmond, Va. The Spartans (5-4) seek their first win over the Rams since 1984. Fans unable to make the trip to Richmond can watch live on the A10 Network.
VCU leads the all-time series 2-1 having won the last two meetings after UNCG took home the win in the inaugural matchup, 83-69, February 17, 1984. Last time the two met, UNCG fell by seven, 80-73, in Richmond on December 14, 2014.
The Blue & Gold is looking for its second consecutive win after defeating Barton, 70-48, Monday night. Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) leads the Blue & Gold with 16.4 points per game while Te'ja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) has 10.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season.
UNCG has outscored its opponents on average of 9.2 points per game this season and is shooting 40.4 percent from the field. As a unit, the Spartans are pulling down 43.3 rebounds per game while their opponents are averaging 36.0 boards per game.
VCU lost to Old Dominion by 10 points, 70-60, Friday night. The Rams have lost three of their last four games including a 75-61 loss on the road to SoCon member Furman. VCU is scoring 66.5 points per game and shooting 39.8 percent from the field but just 28.7 from three-point range. Kiera Robinson is leading the team with 12.9 points per game while Bria Gibson is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
