GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's basketball team is set to play Barton (3-4) at 5:30 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium Monday. The Blue & Gold is looking to get back on track after falling to Radford, 70-54, Friday night. The game will be streamed on YouTube with links available at www.uncgspartans.com.
The Spartans were led by Teja Twitty (Rutherfordton, N.C./Rutherfordton-Spindale Central) last time out who had a career-high 23 points. She's averaging 9.9 points per game and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per game. Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) is the Blue & Gold's leading scorer with 17.3 points per game while Shanese Harris (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) is averaging 9.1 points per game.
This season, UNCG is outscoring opponents on average of 7.6 points per game. The Spartans are shooting 39.3 percent from the field while holding opponents to 37.2 percent. UNCG has forced an average of 20.5 turnovers per game and is making 9.9 steals per game.
Barton has not played a single home game thus far this season. The Bulldogs are 3-4 overall and riding a two-game losing streak entering Monday's game. Both teams are looking to avoid a three-game slide. Kianna Wynn is leading the Blue & White with 17.3 points per game. She's shooting 53.1 percent from the field while also averaging a team-high 8.4 boards per game.
A year ago, the two met for the first time in program history. The Spartans defeated BC, 51-29, inside Fleming Gymnasium December 8, 2015. Lucy Mason led all scorers while Jade Scaife (Fort Washington, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had 17 points and Keli Foster (Hampton, Va./Bethel) had a then-career-high 11 points.
