CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNCG women's tennis suffered a 6-1 defeat to the Ball State Cardinals Sunday afternoon. The Spartans fall to 0-2 on the season. Ball State improves to 2-1 on the young season.
UNCG was unable to gain an advantage in the doubles competition. The pair of Alice Taylor (Cambridge, Great Britain/UMBC) and Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) fell to Audrey Berger and Julia Shircea, 6-1. Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga./Saint Pius X) and Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) dropped No. 2, 6-0. Sarah Swiderski (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep) and Corinne Blythe (Leicestershire, Great Britain/Queenswood School) retired in the No. 3 competition after Ball State clinched the point.
Taylor scored UNCG's lone point of the afternoon. At No. 1 singles, Taylor defeated Carmen Blanco, 6-2, 6-2 to earn her first victory as a Spartan.
