GREENVILLE, N.C. – Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) partnered with Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) to earn a doubles victory, before winning no. 4 singles in three sets. The Spartans suffered a 5-2 defeat to the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday afternoon, despite DeMoss' efforts.
UNCG is now 1-4 on the season. East Carolina improves to 3-3.
East Carolina gained the advantage after the doubles competition. DeMoss and Bridges took No. 2 doubles, 6-4 over Maria Gomez and Nastja Rettich, but the Spartans couldn't gain the advantage at No. 1 falling 6-1, and dropping No. 3 6-3.
DeMoss recorded a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles over Annija Veinsteina. Sarah Swiderski (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep) took down Lisa Hofbauer in two sets, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
