UNCG Men's Tennis Travels To ITA Carolina Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG men's tennis returns to ITA Carolina Regionals this weekend, with the five-day tournament beginning this Friday at Cary Tennis Park, hosted by Duke University. Four Spartans will be competing at this year's regional, with juniors Nico Grewe and Ollie Palmer making return trips with sophomore Roger Rogowski, alongside first-timer Hugh Knapp

MEET HISTORY

• Current Spartans Nico Grewe, Ollie Palmer, Roger Rogowski and Jack Burkill all competed at last year's Carolina Regionals, combining for six match wins over singles and doubles play

• Grewe reached as far as the third round in last year's singles play, before falling to the No. 8 seed in the tournament in straight sets

THE SPARTANS

• The Spartans have collected 17 match wins in each of their two home tournaments this season, hosting Elon, NC A&T and Davidson at the Spartan Fall Invitational, along with Campbell, Radford, USC Upstate, James Madison and East Carolina at the UNCG Fall Invitational

• Sophomore Roger Rogowski combined with newcomer Alexander Zuckerman to defeat Davidson's top doubles pairing last weekend, following a UNCG Fall Invitational in which he delivered three singles victories

Nico Grewe provided three singles wins at the Spartan Fall Invitational, while Hugh Knapp collected two wins in singles play and another pair in doubles play

• Zuckerman did not surrender a single set over three singles matches at last weekend's Spartan Fall Invitational, he's yet to drop a singles match during the current fall season

THE COMPETITION

• The Spartans will compete against some of the top talent in the country in Durham, with over 120 of the best collegiate tennis players in the states of North and South Carolina expected to be in attendance

• Five of the top-50 singles players in the country compete in the Carolina Region, along with five of the best 60 doubles pairings in all of Division I
