Women's Golf Takes Part in Blessings Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas, from Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at Blessings Golf Course.

THE FORMAT 
The three-day event will feature three rounds each day. Tee times will be set following the scoring from the respective round. 
 
LINEUP FOR UNCG 
Julia Baeumken, Kasey McIlvaine, Lulu Leetham, Sophie Lauture and Elle Burnette

UNCG, Maryland, Missouri, Arkansas, Washington State, BYU, Mississippi State, Louisville, Kent State and Kansas State 
 
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS 

  • UNCG concluded the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Sept. 9th, in a tie for seventh place out of 20 competing schools. 

  • The Spartans turned in an overall score of 19-over-par (871). 

  • Leetham carded a hole-in-one in the tournament coming on the 11th hole in the first round. She shot a 2.87 stroke average on par three's this tournament which was tied for fifth in the entire field. 

  • Freshman Chanelle Mwangi led the Spartans for the tournament with a two-over-par (215) performance over three days tying her at 17th. 

SPARTANS LAST SEASON  

  •  Junior Kasey Mcllvaine led UNCG and tied for seventh at four-over-par (220) with round scores of 73-75-72 at the National Golf Invitational.   

  • Mcllvaine also led the Spartans at The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship, tying for seventh at nine-over-par (225) after carding rounds of 74-77-74.   

  • UNCG finished in fourth place out of nine teams in the 2025 SoCon Championships, posting a 57-over-par (921) and a 303-314-304 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This placing was the highest in program history since 2013 and fell three strokes shy of third-place Mercer (918).    

  • The Spartans also won the Puerto Rico Shootout on March 5, 2025, with current sophomore Leetham finishing runner-up in the event.   

  • Leetham also posted a four-under-par (140) with rounds of 69-71.  

  • UNCG also carded a second-place finish at its home event of the UNCG Collegiate on October 22, 2024, finishing nine-under-par (851) and four-strokes shy of the lead.

UP NEXT 

The Spartans will compete in the Evie Odom Invitational hosted by Old Dominion from Oct. 16-18 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at Princess Anne Country Club.
