Josh Keefe begins his first season as assistant head coach at UNC Greensboro for the 2006-07 season. He comes to UNCG shortly after graduation.
A 2007 graduate of Chattanooga, Keefe wrestled primarily at 133 pounds for the Mocs. After a redshirt season in 2002, Keefe came back in 2003 with five pins and a 28-14 overall record. He was the Southern Conference Champion at 133, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, and was nationally ranked as high as No. 16.
This past summer the Ringgold, GA native traveled to Las Vegas, NV for the U.S. World Team Trials. Competing in the 60 kilos (132 pound) weight class, Keefe lost the first-round to Todd Meneely (2-0, 3-2). He came back to defeat Franklin Gomez (0-2, 3-2, 3-0) and Tony Nickerson (0-1, 11-9, 5-0) before being eliminated by Chris Fleeger (1-0, 1:33 pin).
In both the 2004 and 2005 seasons at Chattanooga, Keefe saw limited time due to injury. He posted an 11-7 overall record and one pin in his sophomore season, finished second at the SoCon Tournament, and was an NCAA Wildcard entrant. He competed in just seven bouts in the 2005-06 season.
In his senior season, Keefe posted a 11-3 record at 133 and a 3-1 record at 141. He also collected two pins and posted dual victories over Davidson, Appalachian State, and The Citadel.
In his career at Chattanooga, Keefe posted a 34-20 tournament record and a 25-10 dual record and tallied eight pins.
From 2002-05, Keefe served as a clinician and coach for the Wrestle the World Training Camps for middle and high school athletes. In 2001-02 he worked with K-8 athletes at the Future Champions Wrestling Program.
Keefe was the Georgia state champion his senior year at Ringgold High School, finished second his junior year, and third as a sophomore under coach Billy Broom.
