GREENSBORO, NC Amanda Eaton scored 20 points on senior day to lead UNC Greensboro to a 70-55 win over Wofford in a Southern Conference women's basketball game this afternoon at Fleming Gym. The victory secures the fourth seed for the Spartans in the SoCon Tournament, which runs March 2-5 in Chattanooga, TN.

UNCG (14-13, 11-9 SoCon) will take on No. 5 Georgia Southern (14-13, 11-9 SoCon) on Thursday, March 3 at 11:00 am. The Spartans owned the tiebreaker with the Eagles, by way of sweeping the regular season series.

Eaton, a senior guard from Wheeling, WV, connected on 6-of-8 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point land to lead the Spartans. Kaleah Latham and Jasmine Byrd added 12 and 11 points respectively.

Wofford (4-23, 2-18 SoCon) was led by Brie Bradshaw's 17 points, while Nakia Mister tossed in 15 points.

UNCG opened the second half on an 8-3 run over the first 3:08 to lead by 13 points, 38-25. Latham, a sophomore forward from Athens, TN, scored back-to-back buckets to get things rolling, while Eaton capped the spurt with a pair of free throws.

The Terriers clawed back to within eight, 40-32, at 15:24, but the Spartans rattled off a 22-10 run over the next 9:19 to extend their lead to as many as 20 points, 62-42, with 6:05 to play. Junior center Caroline Blair began the run with two of her six second half points, while Eaton put an exclamation point on the run with a steal at mid-court and a break-away layup.

Wofford did respond with a 9-0 run but never could get closer than 11, 66-55, with 1:21 remaining. UNCG dominated on the boards, 53-39, including a 31-19 advantage in the second stanza. Freshman center Meghan Chamberlain came off the bench to haul in a game-high nine rebounds.

Freshman guard Kristen Boone, the nation's leader in steals, had two in the first half to up her total to 116 for the season. That figure represents the fifth most by a freshman in a single-season. She is also only six steals from the SoCon record of 122.

In the first half, UNCG buried 5-of-9 3-pointers in the opening eight minutes to lead 18-8. Eaton connected on all three of her attempts, while Byrd and sophomore forward Irene Otamiri each had added a 3. A 13-2 Terrier run made it a 22-21 UNCG lead at 4:44, but the Spartans closed the half on an 8-1 spurt to lead 30-22 at the break. Boone had five of the eight points.

UNCG improves to 9-0 this season when it scores 70 or more points. The Spartans finish 10-4 at home this year.

Before the start of the game, Eaton and Stephanie Britt, a senior guard from Wilson, NC, were honored in a brief senior day ceremony. Britt started and had two points and two steals in 13 minutes.
