CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The UNC Greensboro men's golf team is in eighth place entering Sunday's final round at the Cavalier Classic, which is being held at the par-72, 6,875-yard Birdwood Golf Course and hosted by the University of Virginia.

The Spartans shot rounds of 303 and 310 for a 36-hole total of 613. Nathan Stamey sits in a tie for 17th to lead the UNCG contingent. The sophomore from Canton, NC shot an opening round 76, before coming back in the afternoon with a round of 73.

J.D. Bass is in 39th place after shooting rounds of 75 and 80, while Jake Lowder is tied for 41st after firing rounds of 73 and 83. Lowder's first round 73 placed him in a tie for 12th, which included six birdies in his round.

Maryland leads the tournament at 576. James Madison, which led after the morning round with a 1-under 287, dropped back to third at 592.

Maryland's Blaine Peffley leads the tournament after 36 holes at 3-under 141. Peffley shot 73 in the first round and then fired a 4-under 68 in the afternoon. That tied as the best single round score during the day's play.

Two players managed a hole-in-one during Saturday's play. Towson's Alex Brueggemann aced the par-3, 158-yard No. 14 during the morning round. NC State's Taylor Crosby carded his hole-in-one on the 179-yard No. 4 during the afternoon.

The tournament concludes Sunday with the final round scheduled to being at 8:30 a.m.
