BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The UNCG Women's Tennis team completed a weekend sweep in Boiling Springs on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans defeated the Bulldogs 4-3, to go a perfect 2-0 after knocking off Richmond the previous day. The Spartans improve to 3-3 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-4.
The Bulldogs took the doubles competition of the event. Taking the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. The pair of Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain/Tile Hill Wood School) and Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Britain/Newcastle Under Lyme School) took the No. 1 doubles competition, defeating the pair of Stina Magnusson and Sandra Bolstad, 7-2.
In the singles competition, Sarah Swiderski (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep), Blaine Boaz (Dunwoody, Ga./St. Pius X), Jamie Grinberg (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) and Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) were able to win their competitions and earn the win. Swiderski, Bridges and DeMoss used two sets for the wins, while Grinberg fought back from a first set loss to take her match in three sets.
