CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNCG men's tennis team suffered just its second defeat on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans fell 7-0 to the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. UNCG falls to 3-2 on the season, while North Carolina improves to 12-0.
The Spartans were swept in the doubles competition, with Logan Walker (Stuart, Fla./Morningside Academy) and Ian Melnik (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) suffered a 6-3 defeat to Andrew Gores and Blaine Boyden at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, the Spartans fell in all six matches. Four of six Tar Heel singles competitors are ranked in the top 100, and were able to take down the Spartans. Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) suffered a two match defeat, with each set being scored 6-3. Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) fell at the No. 5 singles, 6-4 and 6-1.
