ROCK HILL, S.C. – The UNCG men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the spring season on Sunday afternoon to the Winthrop Eagles, 6-1.  The Spartans took one of the three doubles matches, while managing to grab one of the six singles matches.

In doubles play, William Albright (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) and Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) fell to Tremayne Mitchell and Steven Patrick, 6-1.  Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) and Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) continued their winning ways, defeating Michael Chen and Ruy Teixeira 6-4.  Thompson and Mack were also victorious in the previous match with Davidson.  In No. 3 doubles, Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla.)/Park Vista) and Ian Melnik (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) fell to Josh Ryan and Diego Quiroz, 6-1.

Thompson also won his singles competition, defeating Mitchell in two sets, 7-5, 6-4.  Murray and Albright each fell in three sets, while Mack, Bryan and James Flynn (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) suffered two set losses.
