GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG Men's Tennis snapped a seven-match losing skid on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the UNC Charlotte 49ers 4-3 at the UNCG Tennis Courts on senior day. The Spartans improve to 8-12 on the season, with Charlotte falling to 12-6 on the year. The match was senior day as James Flynn (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage), Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) and Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla./Lake Worth) participated in their last match at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
UNCG edged out the 49ers to gain the doubles point. After Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) and Mack took No. 1 easily, 6-0, Ian Melnick (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) and Logan Blaser (Gainesville, Fla./Oak Hill) suffered a 6-3 loss at No. 3. Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) and Logan Walker (Stuart, Fla./Morningside Academy) narrowly took No. 2, 7-6 to give UNCG the first point of the afternoon
Thompson earned a point a No. 1 singles, winning in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. Murray took No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Bryan was able to win the match for UNCG, using a come-from-behind victory to take No. 4 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
