CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – UNCG Men's Tennis wrapped up 2016 regular season play on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans improve to 9-12 on the year, and 2-5 in the Southern Conference (SoCon) with a 4-3 win over the Chattanooga Mocs. Chattanooga falls to 7-14, and 1-6 in the SoCon.
UNCG was able to sweep the doubles portion of the event. Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) and Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) took No. 1 6-2, with Logan Walker (Stuart, Fla./Morningside Academy) and Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) taking No. 2 in dramatic fashion, 7-6 (11-9). Ian Melnik (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) and William Albright (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) took No. 3 by a 6-0 tally.
The Spartans and Mocs split the singles event, with Chattanooga taking No. 1, 2, and 3. UNCG taking No. 4, 5, and 6 to ensure the victory. Albright won in two sets at No. 4, 6-2, 6-4. Bryan took No. 5 6-4, 6-2 with Melnik wrapping up the scoring at 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6. Thompson and Mack dropped a pair of dramatic matches, falling in three sets each.

UNCG won't play again until next Friday, April 22rd as they will head back to Chattanooga to take on the Furman Paladins in the SoCon Championships. Earlier this season, the Spartans dropped a match with the Paladins 5-2 in Greensboro.
