SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG Men's Tennis suffered another close defeat on Saturday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. The Spartans fell 4-3 to the Wofford Terriers at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Spartans fall to 7-9, and 1-3 in Southern Conference (SoCon) play. Wofford improves to 8-11, and 2-3 in SoCon play.
William Albright (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) and Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) took No. 1 doubles 6-1 over the pair of Parks Thompson and David Sklar. UNCG was unable to gain the doubles point, falling 7-6 at No. 2, and 6-2 at No. 3.
In the singles competition, UNCG and Wofford split, with both teams earning three victories. The Spartans took No. 2-4 for their three points. Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) took No. 2, 6-4, 6-0. Gaston Murray (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) defeated David Sklar 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 3. Albright rounded out the scoring for the Spartans, taking No. 4 7-5, 2-6 and 6-2. Bryan suffered a three-set at No. 5 in a very close match, 7-6, 5-7, 7-5.
