GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG Women's Tennis suffered a 7-0 loss to the Furman Paladins at the UNCG Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans fall to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference (SoCon) play. Furman improves to 10-8, and 3-0 in SoCon action.
The Spartans picked up a win at No. 3 doubles. Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) and Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) won 6-4. UNCG fell at No. 1 and No. 2, and were unable to record the point.
In singles action, Amy Ellis (Cheshire, Great Britain/Newcastle Under Lyme) and Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N.C./Shelby) suffered three set losses at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively. Soumeya Anane (Coventry, Great Britain/Tile Hill Wood School) fell at No. 1 7-5, 6-2. DeMoss fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, with Blaine Boax (Dunwoody, Ga./Saint Pius X) and Corinne Blythe (Leicestershire, Great Britain/Queesnwood)) falling at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
