GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Men's Tennis team fell 5-2 to the Furman Paladins Saturday afternoon. The match, originally scheduled to be played at the UNCG Tennis Courts, was moved to the Barber Park Indoor Tennis Facility. UNCG falls to 7-12 overall, and 1-4 in the Southern Conference, Furman improves to 9-9, and 3-2 in the SoCon.
In doubles play, UNCG fell at all three levels. William Albright (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) and Warren Bryan (Greensboro, N.C./Longwood) fell at No. 1, 7-5 with the pair of Connor Thompson (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents) and Daniel Mack (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) suffering a 6-4 loss at No. 2. Logan Walker (Stuart, Fla./Morningside Academy) and Ian Melnik (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) dropped the No. 3 set 6-1.
Thompson picked up his 12th win of the season at No. 1 singles on Saturday afternoon. Thompson defeated Adam Steryous in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6. Bryan earned the other UNCG point at No. 5, defeating Alex Steryous, 7-6, 6-2.
