RICHMOND, Va. – UNCG women's tennis suffered a 5-2 loss to the Richmond Spiders Sunday afternoon. The Spartans and Spiders were originally scheduled to play on Wednesday afternoon, but the match was rescheduled due to weather.
The Spiders narrowly took the doubles point to open the match. UNCG's pair of Masey DeMoss (Mayodan, N.C./McMichael) and Corinne Blythe (Leicestershire, Great Britain/Queenswood School) notched a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles. Alice Taylor (Cambridge, Great Britain/UMBC) and Yasmin Franco (Largo, Fla./Indian Rocks Christian) dropped a hard-fought match at No. 1, 7-6 (1).
Nancy Bridges (Shelby, N../Shelby) notched one of UNCG's two victories at No. 5 singles. Bridges earned a 7-6 (1), 6-3 victory. Sophia Adams (Miami, Fla./TERRA Environmental Institute) earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles over Kelsey Williams.
