MACON, Ga. – UNCG women's tennis dropped a 5-2 matchup with the Mercer Bears in Macon Saturday afternoon. The Spartans had a chance to take four of the six singles matches, taking the final two matches to three sets but could not pull out the victory. UNCG falls to 3-12 with the loss and 0-4 in Southern Conference play. Mercer improves to 8-10 and 1-3 in SoCon action.

Mercer got the action going by taking two of three doubles matches to earn the first point. The Bears finished with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 before the pair of Alice Taylor and Sophia Adams earned a 6-2 win at No. 3.

Singles play saw the Spartans earn wins at No. 3 and No. 4, but fell in a pair of three-set matches at No. 5 and No. 6. Adams earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 3 with Brianna Gomez continuing to play well in her freshman season, earning a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Grace Korta at No. 4. UNCG's Corinne Blythe and Blaine Boaz played tough at No. 5 and No. 6, forcing third sets in each, but each came up short.
