GREENSBORO, N.C. – Playing the first leg of a doubleheader with men's basketball, UNCG women's basketball defeated the visiting High Point Panthers by a final of 82-70, thanks in part to double-doubles from Te'ja Twitty and Nadine Soliman. Twitty's 32 points on the afternoon set a new career mark for the senior, finishing just three points ahead of Soliman for a game-high.
The Spartans' shooting was hot out of the gate, with UNCG hitting 10-of-13 in the opening 10 minutes. Te'ja Twitty and Nadine Soliman each provided 10 points to their team's first period-total of 24, with Twitty hitting five of her first six shots to start the game.
Head Coach Trina Patterson's side experienced a 'heat check' during the second quarter however, with the Panthers opening play on a 12-5 run to move out in front 31-29. The Spartans would bury just three field goals in quarter number two, but would hit eight of their 10 attempts from the charity stripe to stay within a bucket of HPU at the half, 40-38.
Twitty would play a large part in the Spartans retaking the lead in the third quarter, scoring another 11 to bring her total to a career-high 27 before the start of the fourth. The senior forward scored seven unanswered points to close out the third period and help give her team a 60-55 lead.
UNCG would expand its lead in the fourth quarter, hitting six of their nine attempts from the floor, while keeping High Point to just 15 points. Twitty would add another five to bring her afternoon total to 32, pulling down 10 boards overall for her 21st career double-double in an 82-70 Spartan victory.

The Spartans continue their time at home on the 29th, hosting Appalachian State at 2 p.m. inside Fleming Gymnasium. The Spartans are 28-34 against the Mountaineers all-time, and look to stop an 11-game losing skid against the side. This will be just the second time the two programs have met since App State left the Southern Conference at the end of the 2013-14 season.
