Men's Golf Looking For Third Straight Tournament Victory In Puerto Rico

PUERTO RICO – Starting Sunday, UNC Greensboro's men's golf will be participating in the Puerto Rico Classic, taking place at Rio Mar Country Club.

A Glance At The Squad

For the first time since the 2014-15 season, UNCG has won two tournaments. Concluding fall play, the Spartans won their annual home tournament – the Grandover Collegiate – for the first time in program history. The Spartans (289-282-298) finished the tournament at five-over par and finished the 54-hole tournament with a total score of 869.

Then this past week at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate to begin spring play, UNCG sealed a first place finish with a team score of 850 (293-273-284). The 850 is the sixth-lowest 54-hole outing posted in program history.

Sophomore Nick Lyerly (68-69-70) was also the individual champion, as he finished the tournament at nine-under.

UNCG Will Be Joined By…

UNCG will be joined during the tournament by Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina State, Marquette, Iowa, Ohio State, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Purdue, Georgia Tech and Alabama.
