FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The UNCG women's tennis team completed a successful trip to Colorado last night with a 4-3 win over Colorado State, which gives the Spartans their fourth victory of the season and back-to-back wins, after downing Northern Colorado on Wednesday by a 7-0 margin, for the first time in 2019.

Colorado State (7-4) opened the match with a 6-3 doubles win by Emily Luetschwager / Priscilla Palmero, who faced Sophia Adams / Eugenia Camacho. The Rams went onto claim the doubles point after the tandem of Stella Cliffe / Emily Kolbow downed Nancy Bridges / Erika Barquero by a 6-4 margin.

UNCG brought the match to a 1-1 tie in singles as Brianna Gomez claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Alyssa Grijalva. Bridges rebounded from her doubles setback to give the Spartans (4-6) a one-point lead in the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Luetschwager.

Adams came through with her fifth singles win of the season, moving the UNCG lead to 3-1 in the match, as she fought past Cliffe 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. Teammate Emily Ory completed the Spartans team win as she overcame a first set loss against Emma Corwin to emerge 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Palmero snagged her second win of the evening (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) by defeating Eugenia Camacho in the clash of No. 5 singles. Nancy Ghanem followed that with a tightly-contested 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Barquero, making for the 4-3 team final.

UNCG will look to carry the momentum established in Colorado into Southern Conference play, which begins Wednesday, March 13 at Furman. The Spartans will head to Greenville, S.C. for a 3 p.m. match with the Paladins.
