Spartans On Track For Best Start In Two Decades

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – UNCG women's basketball looks to continue its impressive form at home this weekend, hosting Concord University on Saturday inside Fleming Gymnasium. The Spartans are on a six-game winning streak when playing host, and are a win away from having one of their best starts to a season all-time.

-- UNCG has never played Concord, facing the Mountain East Conference member for the first time in program history this week

-- The Spartans are competing against a member of the MEC for the first time, and has defeated their last seven games against non-D1 opponents

-- The Spartans rank first in the Southern Conference in both scoring defense (56.6) and scoring margin (+12.3) sitting 38th and 57th in those two categories nationally 

-- With 660 career field goals, Nadine Soliman is just two buckets away from securing a Spartan Division I record and eight away from setting a program all-time record

-- Soliman currently ranks ninth in the country with 267 points scored, while her 1,565 career field goal attempts sits fourth among active Division I players

-- UNCG's 10-4 start ties the 2000-01 season for its best since 1998-99 when the Spartans began the campaign 12-4. An 11-4 record would be the best start this century

-- Te'ja Twitty recorded a career-best seven assists against Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, she's averaging 20.3 points, 9.7 boards and 4.0 helpers in her past three appearances

-- Concord has one of the top offenses in Division II women's basketball, ranking 10th in points scored per game (83.9) and eighth in field goal percentage (49.1)

-- Junior forward Riley Fitzwater ranks second in the nation with an average of four blocks per game and a 72.5 field goal percentage. She has six double-doubles this year, averaging 16.5 points and 10.9 boards per contest
