GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis continues its second week of spring action, returning home to host Charlotte this Saturday. The Spartans split their opening weekend of action after defeating UNCW 5-2 in the season opener, and falling to UNC Asheville 4-3 on Sunday.

When: Saturday, February 1st | 1 p.m.

MATCHUP HISTORY
• The Spartans and Charlotte are meeting for a third straight season, with the 49ers taking the pair's last meeting 6-1 in Charlotte
• UNCG is 1-2 against Charlotte in Greensboro since the turn of the century, defeating the 49ers 6-1 back in 2014

THE SPARTANS
• Sophomore Erika Barquero and redshirt freshman Hanna Giddings are 2-0 in doubles play this season, competing as the Spartans' top pairing last week against UNCW and UNC Asheville
• Barquero is undefeated in singles play as well, representing UNCG's top seed. Brianna Gomez (No. 4) and Eugenia Camacho (No. 6) are both 2-0 in singles play, but Barquero is the only undefeated Spartan in both singles and doubles this year
• UNCG dropped the doubles point in their season opener against UNCW before taking five of six singles matches. The Spartans are 8-4 when competing as individuals on the season
Sophia Adams and Giddings are both 1-1 in singles this year while competing in the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds respectively

THE 49ers
• Charlotte's match against the Spartans will already be it's seventh of the season. The 49ers currently own a 3-2 record, facing Coastal Carolina this Friday before making the trip to Greensboro
• Charlotte is led by junior Rocio Safont, whose 4-1 record on the year represents just a single loss to No. 8 NC State's top-seeded Alana Smith. Smith was ranked as high as No. 31 in the Oracle ITA Division I National Fall Rankings individually

COMING UP NEXT
The Spartans have a week off before hosting their third match of the season, against East Carolina on February 8th. The Pirates lead the all-time series against UNCG, but are just 2-2 against the Spartans when playing in Greensboro, since 2011.
