GREENSBORO, N.C.  – UNCG women's basketball opens the SoCon season at home this Thursday, hosting the visiting ETSU Buccaneers inside Fleming Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The Spartans will be competing in the fifth of their current seven game homestand, looking to deliver their fifth straight victory, and their eighth straight when playing at home. With a victory over the Bucs, UNCG would be just two successive wins away from tying a Spartan D1 program record for consecutive home wins in a single season.

Series History

-- UNCG holds a 14-19 record against the Bucs all-time, with the pair's last five meetings being decided by nine points or less

-- The Spartans are 2-1 in their SoCon home openers since Head Coach Trina Patterson took the reigns in 2016-17

Five Facts To Know

-- Moving her career total to 665 career field goals, Nadine Soliman broke a Spartan Division I career record last week against Concord. She sits just three buckets away from breaking the all-time record and 69 points away from tallying the UNCG all-time scoring record

-- Moving to 11-4 with their win over Concord, the Spartans are off to their best start to a season since the turn of the century. A win over ETSU will tie the team's best 16-game start to a season since the 1991-92 campaign, the Spartan's first year at the Division I level

-- The Spartans own the top-ranked field goal shooting percentage and field goal shooting percentage defense in the Southern Conference, outshooting opponents 46.9 to 36.3

-- Senior forward Te'ja Twitty is averaging 19.3 points, nine boards and 4.3 assists over her past four outings, she recorded the 22nd double-double of her career with 14 points and 13 rebounds against App State last week, and is two away from tying a UNCG career record

-- UNCG (No. 98) is one of two SoCon squads ranked within the top-100 of the latest NET rankings, trailing only Furman (No. 83), for the top mark in the conference. The Spartans rank higher than any member of the Big South, Big Sky, Big West or NEC.

The Buccaneers

-- The Bucs get to the charity stripe more than any other team in the SoCon. Their 355 free throw attempts rank fifth in Division I basketball, while their 243 made free throws sit fourth

-- Junior center Ti Kimbro is the top shot-blocker in the Southern Conference this year, averaging 1.93 rejections per game for a total of 27

Coming Up Next
The Spartans will close out their seven-game homestand with back-to-back SoCon contests against Chattanooga and Western Carolina. UNCG has won just nine of their 54 meetings against the Mocs, but are 2-2 in the pair's last four meetings
