GREENSBORO, N.C. - A week into the 2020 signing period and UNCG baseball is already off to a quick start, committing eight new players to the Spartan roster since National Signing Day on November 11th.

"We are extremely excited to welcome this special group of young men," says head coach Billy Godwin. "Recruiting during a pandemic made this process challenging. The talent we were able to assemble will give us the opportunity to compete for Southern Conference Championship titles for years to come."

Godwin and staff reached out of state three times to sign a pair from South Carolina and a single Virginia product this year. Seven of the new class of Spartans will be true freshmen in 2022, two of which grew up in the Piedmont Triad area. Half of this year's class have pitched for their respective high schools and development programs at some point, and have the potential to contribute both on the mound and in the batter's box in the future.

Caleb Freeman

• Ranked top-500 nationally by Perfect Game

Ethan McKay
Outfield | Union Pines HS | Carthage, N.C.
• 2018 All-Conference selection
• Helped lead Union Pines to 2018 State Championship quarterfinal
• President of Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)

Kennedy Jones
First Base/Outfield | Maury HS | Norfolk, Va.
• Part of the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP)
• Helped lead Maury to the 2018 state quarterfinals
• Chose UNCG over East Carolina, TCU, James Madison & the University of New Mexico

Luke Jenkins
Outfield | Grimsley HS | Greensboro, N.C.
• Two-time All-Conference selection
• Led Grimsley HS to back-to-back state tournament appearances
• Made Elite 8 appearance at Perfect Game World Championship with South Charlotte Panthers

Rowan Watt
Shortstop/RHP | Wayne Country Day Academy | Goldsboro, N.C.
• Two-year captain at Wayne Country Day Academy
• WWBA National Champion with Perfect Game Canes American 
• National Honors Society

Collin Fowler
Outfield/RHP | Spartanburg Methodist College | Taylors, S.C.
• Made 11 appearances for Spartanburg Methodist College in 2020
• Received a grade of "8" from Perfect Game coming out of Riverside HS
• 2018 American Legion MVP as well as 2018 & 2019 Greer Legion Post 115 Team MVP

Banks Cox
Catcher/RHP | West Forsyth HS | Winston-Salem, N.C.
