Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Spartans Wrap-Up Home Stand Against NC Wesleyan

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's basketball drops a 52-37 final to NC Wesleyan on Monday night, moving to 0-4 on the regular season. The Spartans were once again led by CeCe Crudup in the scoring department, while sophomore Amber Redmond delivered eight points and eight rebounds on the afternoon.

UNCG's defense held the Battling Bishops to just four buckets in the first quarter, but the visitors still controlled a 12-8 advantage in the opening 10 minutes. The Spartans' defense held strong throughout the opening half, forcing 13 turnovers and keeping NC Wesleyan to just 7-for-30 shooting. The home team scored seven of its 18 points in the first half off of those turnovers, yet trailed 21-18 come the end of the second quarter.

The Spartans forced another 10 turnovers in the second half, and while Crudup would score seven of her nine points in the remaining 20 minutes, it was not enough to pull out a victory for the home team.

The Battling Bishops outrebounded UNCG 33-24 over the course of the second half, while pouring in 31 points to take the 52-37 final.

>> Just three days off of scoring a career-high against Belmont Abbey, sophomore Amber Redmond came within a bucket and two boards of her first career double-double, pulling down a career-best rebound total
>> Senior guard Tori Powell tied a career-high with five steals on the night. She and Redmond were responsible for nine of the Spartans' 13 steals
>> After giving up 96 to North Carolina to open the season, the UNCG defense is allowing an average of just 53 points per game while forcing 20 turnovers per contest
