GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis prepares for its second road challenge of the season this week, taking on Appalachian State in Boone this Tuesday. Doubles play is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start, as the Spartans look to bounce back from Saturday's 4-3 loss to East Carolina.

MATCHUP HISTORY
• While ASU has won its last two contests against the Spartans, UNCG is 5-2 against the side dating back to 2012
• The Mountaineers dropped UNCG 4-3 last year, but split singles play 3-3, with current Spartans Sophia Adams and Brianna Gomez each tallying wins

• Sophomore Erika Barquero experienced her first loss of the season this past Saturday, after opening with three straight singles wins as the No. 1 seed
• Barquero is tied for a team-high with Adams, Gomez and Camacho with three individual wins in 2020
• Camacho made her season debut in the No. 5 seed this past weekend after starting her first three matches at the No. 6. She dropped East Carolina's Hanna Axelsson in three sets
• Barquero has combined with Hanna Giddings for three wins in doubles play this season. They had dropped just six games combined before coming into Saturday's match against ECU's No. 1
THE MOUNTAINEERS
• App State's Sasha Pisareva was ranked No. 48 in the first round of ITA Women's Singles Rankings and is 3-0 after opening the season with a victory over No. 8 NC State's No. 43 Anna Rogers
• The Mountaineers defeated Campbell 6-1 on Saturday, after opening the season with 6-1 losses to the No. 8 Wolfpack and Virginia Tech.
COMING UP NEXT
The Spartans' match at App State is the first of a four-contest road trip, traveling to James Madison (2/15), Coastal Carolina (2/22) and Gardner-Webb (2/27). UNCG took a 6-1 loss to the Dukes in March last season, and a 4-2 defeat to CCU last February.
