GREENSBORO, N.C. – After an encouraging effort at Wake Forest this past Sunday, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team returns home to host a pair of contests.

The first contest is against Winthrop on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Fleming Gym.

Winthrop and UNCG will be meeting each other for the first time in 6,202 days (or 886 weeks, if anybody is counting). The Spartans captured the last matchup, 62-52, on Nov. 26, 2004. Overall, UNCG leads the series, 19-11.

This will UNCG's second contest against a school from the Big South. The Spartans defeated UNC Asheville in their season opener.

In their most recent contest this past Sunday, the Spartans led Wake Forest by three points early in the fourth quarter before falling short of their second straight triumph in the series. Yet, there were plenty of positives from the contest, ones in which head coach Trina Patterson will yield some beautiful results throughout the season.
