GREENSBORO, N.C. -Â UNCG men's tennis takes a break from conference action while getting back on the road at Gardner-Webb this Wednesday. The Bulldogs will already be the Spartans' third Big South opponent of 2021 as the side preps for their first road contest since February 21st.

HOW'S THEIR FORM?
-- UNCGÂ looks for its first win of the season against Gardner-Webb this week, but two of the team's past three matches have come down to the final singles contest of the day, as the Spartans came out on the wrong side of 4-3 finals against ETSU and Wofford
-- The Bulldogs are on a three-match winning streak and have come out on top in five of their last six. GWU is undefeated in Big South play this year, but is 0-2 against SoCon members in 2021, losing to Furman and Wofford earlier in the campaign

Alexander Zuckerman leads the Spartans with a 3-3 record on the year, going 3-2 when playing in the No. 5 this spring

Christopher Johns made their debut as a doubles pairing against Wofford last week, taking the third match on a tiebreaker. Johns is also an undefeated 1-0 in singles play

Nico Grewe have combined for a 3-2 record when playing as a doubles pairing, competing as the top duo for all six of UNCG's matches this year
SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
-- Sophomore Connor Enslin has a team best four singles wins on the year, going 2-0 at the No. 4 and 2-2 when playing at the fifth seed
-- Since being put together as a pairing, Chrisjan Van Wyk and Victor Putter have gone an undefeated 3-0 while playing No. 1 doubles. All three of their matches together have come against Big South opponents, of which the Bulldogs are undefeated as a team
SERIES HISTORY
-- The Spartans dropped their most recent meeting with the Bulldogs, but that loss put an end to a streak of six straight victories against Gardner-Webb
-- GWU won 4-3 in its meeting with UNCG in 2019. The Spartans have beat the Bulldogs by three or more in every other meeting since 2012
