USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following its second meet of the season, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's cross country team earned its first U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast regional ranking since 2019, as announced by the organization Monday.

The men's team earned a 15th- place Southeast region ranking this week after posting a third-place finish at the Elon Opener to kick off the season and a fourth-place mark at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge.

The Spartans have seen their highest ranking of eighth in 2011, while the most recent ranking for the squad was in 2019 when UNCG earned a No. 24 ranking during the final week of the poll.

In the Southeast, UNCG sits behind Appalachian State University who was ranked 13th last week and moved down to 14 this week.

At the Adidas Cross Country Challenge, UNCG posted three in the top-30 and seven in the top-50, led by senior Dylan Christopher who finished 13th overall with a time of 18:22.2 in the six-kilometer race. As a team, the Spartans defeated Duke University, who is ranked No. 4 in the Southeast region and receiving votes nationally.

THOUGHTS FROM THE COACH, KALEIGH ROACH
"I am excited for where we are as a team right now. There is still a lot of work left to be done this season. The upperclassmen have laid a solid foundation for this program and the team seems to be bought into each other with the goals they have set out to accomplish. I think this shows that all their hard work through the summer and up until this point is paying off. All we can do is continue on in a positive direction."

UP NEXT
The Spartans will open the month of October with the Louisville Classic on Saturday the 2nd.
