GREENSBORO, N.C. – After 22 days, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will hit the hardwood and welcome the Mercer Bears for their first conference matchup of the 2021-22 season.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
-- The Spartans finished their non-conference slate with a 4-9 record.
--Freshman Isys Grady leads the team in points (144), free-throws made (30), field goals made (57), and averaged points (11.1).
--Khalis Cain is ranked third in the conference in rebounding. She has 48 offensive rebounds, 54 defensive rebounds, and averages 7.8 per game.
--Grady ranks third in the conference in field goal percentage with .496 and free throw percentage with .857
--Nia Howard is ranked fourth in the SoCon in 3-point field goal percentage with .400. She leads the team with 19 made threes. Jaylynn Brown follows with 17.
--Cain is second in the SoCon in blocked shots. She averages 1.4 blocked shots per game.
--As a team, UNCG leads the SoCon in scoring defense with an average of 54.5.
--Nitzan Amar leads the team in assists. The freshman has dished out 24 this season.
--Three Spartans have double-digit steals this season: Brown (16), Grady (15), and CeCe Crudup (13).

SCOUTING MERCER
-- Mercer enters the contest with one conference win under their belt with a 69-52 win over Chattanooga.
--The Bears lead the conference in field goal percentage defense (.357), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.241), blocked shots (67), turnover margin (+2.31), and defensive rebounds (26.5).
--Mercer has three players in the top 10 in scoring in the SoCon: Jaron Dougherty (3rd , 14.2 points per game), Amoria Neal-Tysor (6th , 12.6), and Shannon Titus (10th , 9.8).
--Dougherty ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.7 per game while Titus ranks sixth with an average of 7.3.
--Erin Houpt leads the conference in 3-point percentage with .455.
--Titus leads the conference in blocked shots with two more than Cain. Titus averages 1.5 per game.

SERIES HISTORY
-- Mercer leads the all-time series against the Spartans, 14-3.
--The last time the Spartans beat the Bears was back in the 2019-20 SoCon Tournament.
