UNCG Travels To East Carolina For Super Sunday Match

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team will compete against East Carolina Sunday at the River Birch Tennis Complex in Greenville. The match begins at 2 p.m.
 
Series History
  • ECU edged UNCG, 4-3, on Feb. 8, 2020.
  • The Pirates have a 7-6 edge in recent meetings.
  • ECU has won four straight matches in the series.
 
A Look At UNCG
  • The Spartans defeated North Carolina Central, 4-3, Wednesday for their first victory of the season.
  • Erika Barquero, Juliana Craft, and Olivia Gallagher were winners for UNCG during singles competition.
  • UNCG's No. 1 doubles team of Erika Barquero and Ariana Chan are 2-0.
  • The Spartans swept doubles in their win over NCCU.
  • The No. 2 doubles tandem of Juliana Craft and McCullough Perry earned a 6-4 victory.
  • The No. 3 doubles team of Gallagher and Hannah Mitchell won their match in a tiebreaker.
  • This will be UNCG's second road contest of the season.
 
A Look At East Carolina
  • The Pirates are 1-2 overall after dropping a 7-0 decision to N.C. State this past Sunday.
  • Both losses coming to teams ranked in the top-six of the country (No. 6 N.C. State and No. 3 North Carolina).
  • East Carolina defeated Appalachian State, 4-1, for its lone win of the 2022 season.
  • Earning wins for the Pirates against Appalachian State were Martina Muzzolon, Alisha Hussain, Sofia Cerezo Holgado, and Anne Lou Champion.
  • Alisa Diercksen, who has 28-15 dual match record in the Purple and Gold as well as a 46-30 overall record in singles play.
  • East Carolina is a member of the American Athletic Conference.
