UNCG Falls to Wofford In Final Road Match

Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team fell to the Wofford Terriers, 55-47, in its final regular-season road contest on Monday night in Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
 
For the 16th time this season, Isys Grady finished the game in double scoring figures. She is the only player this season to have 15+ games with 10 or more points.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Spartans were slow to start, being held to two points for the first 6:04.
  • A jumper by Isys Grady started an 8-1 run to put the Blue and Gold down by one.  
  • A last-second three by Wofford's Lutz would give the Terriers a four-point lead.
  • Wofford grew their lead to seven but Jordan Releford's layup sparked a fire in the Spartans.
  • Nia Howard's wide-open three gave UNCG their first lead of the game, 22-23.
  • Wofford took the lead back but for less than a minute. Khalis Cain's last-second layup gave UNCG the lead heading into halftime, 25-24.
  • Wofford came out of halftime and quickly took the lead back.
  • A three-pointer late in the third quarter from Pernilla Sorensen closed UNCG's deficit to three, 38-35.
  • The Terriers grew their lead to nine to force a timeout from the Spartans.
  • Releford had back-to-back layups that also sent her to the charity stripe.
  • Howard's driving layup with under a minute to go closed the gap to 10.
  • Wofford would go to take the 2021-22 series with a final score of 55-47. 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Grady led the team with 11 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and four steals.
  • It's her 16th time with double-figure points.
  • All of her blocks came in the first 10 minutes.
  • Aja Boyd finished with eight rebounds. She had three offensive and five defensive.
  • Sorensen finished with one three-pointer in the game, bringing her streak to 11 in the last 13 games with a three.
  • UNCG's bench outscored Wofford's 34-0.
  • The Spartans forced 15 turnovers.
  • Releford and Nasia Powell were perfect from the charity stripe.
 
UPCOMING
UNCG will go home and close out the regular season with a game against Western Carolina at 4 p.m. After the game, the Spartans will honor their super-senior class of Aja Boyd, CeCe Crudup, and Pernilla Sorensen.
