Three Named to All-Freshman Team at SoCon Championships

LEXINGTON, VA.. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field teams concluded the indoor season at the Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, where four ran career bests on day two.
 
Freshmen Colin Keck, Bella Manfre, and Serena Henderson were selected to the All-Freshman Team.
 
The Championships were held at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia, hosted by VMI for the fifth-straight year. This year marked the 87th edition of the men's championship and the 35th of the women's championship.
 
Graduate student Ariana Garcia, who qualified for the mile finals, earned the Spartans team points as she placed seventh overall. Garcia clocked in a time of 5:07.89 taking seventh overall.
 
Manfre was the next Blue & Gold across the finish line with a career-best time of 5:32.62, while classmate Henderson ran the event in a career-best time of 5:40.73.
 
Senior Colin Alexander, who also qualified for the mile finals, clocked in a career-best time of 4:13.84. This mark was good for ninth overall.
 
Junior Michael Zapherson,, senior Dylan Christopher, and senior Thomas Knepshield ran in the 5000-meter run. Zapherson led the way with a seventh-place finish with his career-best time of 14:46.12. Christopher took 10th overall with a time of 15:11.64, while Knepshield crossed the finish line in 15:13.64, good for 11th.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay placed ninth overall with a time of 4:30.24. The quartet included freshman Camille Carlson, senior Jasmine Cullins, senior Jessica Cullins, and freshman Laila Burk.
