Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Roger Rogowski led the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis during a tough 4-3 setback to UNC Asheville in a spirited non-conference match at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.
Rogowski was a winner at No. 4 singles and teamed with
Cooper Wyett at No. 2 doubles for the Spartans. After capturing a first-set tiebreak, 7-6, Rogowski cruised 6-2 to claim the match. The double point was tightly contested with each match having its own drama.
Rogowski and Wyett got the Spartans off to a great start by winning their match 6-4. It was the first doubles match that finished. The Bulldogs were able to claim the critical doubles point by winning by 7-5 scores at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Earning singles victories for UNCG were
Nico Grewe at No. 1 singles and
David Flisberg at No. 6 singles.
Grewe dropped the first set, 6-4, before storming back to win the final two sets, 7-5, and 6-1. Flisberg cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory. After Grewe's triumph, the match was tied at 3-3. The Bulldogs was able to prevail by claiming a three-set victory at No. 3 singles.
The Spartans visit Coastal Carolina in their next match on Friday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. UNCG's next home match will be on Friday, Feb. 25 against Gardner-Webb, also at 2 p.m.
