Spartans Continue Road Trip with Samford and Mercer

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will continue its week-long road trip with a pair of games against the Samford Bulldogs and the Mercer Bears.
 
The Spartans will go head-to-head with the Bulldogs on Thursday at 7 p.m. (ET). They will close out the road trip with Mercer on Saturday at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
-- Pernilla Sorensen continues to heat up from the three-point line. She has made a three-pointer in seven of the last eight games.
--She has made multiple three-pointers in six of them.
--She leads the Spartans with 16 made three-pointers in conference play.
--Isys Grady leads the team in points. The freshman has a total of 229.
--She sits sixth in the conference with an average of 10.8 points per game.
--UNCG leads the conference in scoring defense, only allowing 55.7 points per game.
-- Three Spartans are ranked in the top 10 in the conference in rebounding: Khalis Cain (3rd/ 7.6 per game), Aja Boyd (7th/ 7.1), and Grady (10th/ 6.7).
--Cain and Boyd are in the top 10 in blocked shots as well. Cain is third with 1.3 per game while Boyd is seventh with 0.7.
--The pair is also two of the top three in offensive rebounds with 3.6 and 2.9, respectively.
 
SCOUTING SAMFORD
--Samford is second in the conference in scoring offense with an average of 65.3 points per game.
--They lead the SoCon in field goal percentage (.419) and assists (13.9 per game).
--Andrea Cournoyer is averaging 17.9 points per game, leading the conference.
--She also leads the conference in field goal percentage (.420), steals (2.7), and three-pointers made (2.5).
--She leads the team with 63 steals this season.
--Sanaa Redmond is averaging 2.0 assists per game which puts her third in the conference.
--Annie Ramil leads the Bulldogs with 169 rebounds this season. She has 61 offensive and 108 defensive.
--Natalie Armstrong leads with24 blocks.
 
SCOUTING MERCER
--Mercer leads the conference in five categories: field goal percentage defense (.253), three-point percentage (.373), three-point percentage defense (.253), blocked shots (4.6), and steals (8.3).
--Mercer currently sits atop the SoCon standings with an 8-1 record. The Bear's lone loss was against Furman.
--Mercer has three players in the top 10 scoring in the conference: Amoria Neal-Tysor (3rd/15.2), Jaron Dougherty (7th/11.9), and Shannon Titus (9th/10.7).
--Neal-Tysor is fourth in the conference in free-throw percentage. She has made 59 out of 79 attempts for a .747.
--Titus joins Neal-Tysor in the top three in steals. Titus is averaging 2.2 while Neal-Tysor averages 2.0.
--Freshman Erin Houpt leads the conference in three-point percentage (.452).
