BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Playing its first match in nine days, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Samford in a Southern Conference match Friday afternoon.
The UNCG No. 1 doubles tandem continued to impress as
Erika Barquero and
Ariana Chan captured a 6-4 victory. It was their fifth doubles victory of the season. They have won two straight matches.
The match was much closer than the final result indicated. The Spartans made Samford earn this victory. UNCG competed hard during the match as the singles contests were closely contested. UNCG had opportunities during the match to capture a couple of singles points.
Barquero dropped a second-set tiebreak and
Eugenia Camacho fell in a three-set tiebreaker after winning the second-set, 6-1.
UNCG finishes its road trip by visiting Mercer on Saturday for a match starting at 1 p.m.
