Spartans Excited To Meet The Citadel and the College of Charleston

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team begins a four-match road trip by playing a pair of contests in Charleston, South Carolina.
 
The Spartans battle The Citadel in their second Southern Conference match Thursday at 1 p.m. and the College of Charleston on Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
A Look At UNCG
  • The Spartans are 4-8 overall after beating Samford, 5-2, in their SoCon opener this past Sunday.
  • Christopher JohnsRoger RogowskiNico Grewe, and David Flisberg all prevailed in straight sets to lead UNCG in the win over Samford. 
  • The Spartans' No. 2 doubles tandem of Grewe and Hampus Johansson needed 23 minutes to win 6-0 against Samford.
  • Grewe leads UNCG with seven singles victories.
  • Grewe has won two consecutive matches against Tennessee Tech and Samford at No. 1 singles.
  • Knapp is second with six singles victories.
  • UNCG's doubles tandem of Cooper Wyett and Knapp are 4-1 this season.
 
A Look At The Citadel
  • The Bulldogs are 4-14 overall and 0-1 in the SoCon.
  • They dropped their SoCon opener to Samford, 7-0, on March 7.
  • All four of The Citadel's wins were against non-Division I opponents.
  • In their last outing, they beat Division III New Jersey City, 5-2, before falling to Campbell, 6-1.
  • The doubles team of Lucas Robins and Hayden Shoemake were two-for-two on the day in victories.
  • Hayden Shoemake picked up his fifth victory of the season with a No. 1 singles spot win over Damien Nezar in a three-set match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
 
A Look At The College of Charleston
  • The Cougars are 2-6 overall.
  • They have matches Wednesday against Nicholls and Saturday against New Jersey City University.
  • CofC lost to New Orleans, 4-3, on Tuesday.
  • Johnny WangMatias Gaedechens, and Andre Limon picked up singles wins for the Cougars in the match against New Orleans.
  • Limon and Wang each improved to 5-3 on the season in singles competition.
  • Zac Larke is 2-5 in CofC's one position in singles.
  • Robby Krick and Zac Larke are 4-4 in doubles action.
  • Andre Limon and Brolin Dorsey are 3-1 this season in doubles competition.
