UNCG Hosts Elon In Women's Tennis Wednesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team hosts Elon on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in its penultimate regular season contest.
 
A Look At UNCG
  • The Spartans lost to Furman this past Sunday.
  • Freshman Olivia Gallagher leads UNCG with five singles wins.
  • Gallagher dropped a tough second set tiebreak at No. 2 singles against Furman.
  • The Spartans roster features four underclassmen and one senior.
  • UNCG's last two matches have been against nationally-ranked opponents.
  • Sophomore Juliana Craft has won three matches.
  • UNCG has defeated North Carolina Central and Mercer this season.
 
A Look At Elon
  • The Phoenix are 13-7 overall.
  • They are 1-6 on the road.
  • Elon dropped a 6-1 decision to James Madison last Saturday.
  • Sibel Tanik led the way for Elon in singles play, battling back to outlast Natalia Nikolopoulou 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 in a three-set battle in No. 1 singles.
  • Tanik is now on a five-match winning streak and sits at 10-5 overall in singles play.
  • The tandem of Tanik and Lizette Reding secured the lone win for Elon in doubles play, taking down Michelle Los Arcos and Daniela Voloh 6-4 in the No. 1 spot.
  • With the win the duo picked up its team-leading 11th this year and earned its fifth win in six outings.
  • Olivia Archer is leading the way for Elon, as the junior has racked up a team-high 13 wins this season and has won 11 of her last 14 matches.
  • The senior also holds a perfect 4-0 mark in the No. 4 position this season.
