GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team lost to Elon, 7-0, in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans got strong performances from their top two singles players,
Juliana Craft and
Olivia Gallagher. After a tough first set for each, they battled back with character and heart before falling in close matches.
This was the third of a four-match home stand for the Spartans, who finish their regular season schedule on Saturday against Chattanooga at 12 p.m.
"Olivia continues to grind," UNCG head coach
Paul Thomson said. "She is close to breaking through. Juliana gave herself a chance in the second set. Slow starts have been her problem and just not jumping in with both feet. We've talked about it and hopefully it will click. MC played hard and took a step forward developing today."
