Vampatella Named Women’s Basketball Director of Player Development

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team and head coach Trina Patterson announce the promotion of Abby Vampatella to Director of Player Development.

Vampatella finished her first year as a graduate assistant manager for the Spartans' women's basketball program during the 2021-22 season. She is pursuing her Master's of Applied Arts and Sciences.

"Abby is the perfect choice to develop this new position for our program," stated head coach Trina Patterson. "She will assist in various areas focused on helping student-athletes succeed both on and off the court, and serve the coaching staff. Abby is a high energy, positive person who is a great fit for our program."

As a graduate assistant, Vampatella aided the coaching staff with recruiting visits, scouting, practice plans, while managing all social media accounts for the program, creating graphics and videos, and taking photos. She also worked closely with the Director of Basketball Operations on food, travel, and other team operations.

Vampatella is a 2021 graduate of Gordon College in Massachusetts, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a minor in history. She played basketball for the Fighting Scots and was the vice president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
