Men’s Tennis Competes on Day 2 of Home Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team competed on its second day of the UNCG Fall Invitational.

The Spartans had two big singles wins, including freshman Wyatt Cannon, earning his first-collegiate win.

Junior Hampus Johansson interviewed Cannon post-match.

Johansson: "You won your first-collegiate win today, how did it feel?"

Cannon: "It felt really good. It was a great atmosphere and there was a lot of people in the crowd. It was really nice that all of my teammates were there watching and supporting me."

Johansson: "What's your biggest takeaway from today?"

Cannon: "My biggest takeaway from today would be to never give up because at any point in the match, the momentum can change, especially with a crowd. Each player's team is supporting them, so it is easy to lose the momentum, so you just have to keep it going."

Johansson: "What is the biggest difference going from juniors to college tennis?"

Cannon: "The whole atmosphere and the crowd. In juniors, it is more one-on-one, and there is not a lot of people supporting you. In college, you have your whole team on the sideline supporting and cheering for you, so it is a pretty big difference."

Johansson: "What do you think about the team performance today?"

Cannon: "I think we did really good. Everyone worked really hard and wanted to be out there. It was a great atmosphere."

Johansson: "Tomorrow, with our last day of play, we play Presbyterian, what are your thoughts?"

Cannon: "I don't know anyone on the team or watched them play but I am excited for it. I think we can do it and I know my teammates are ready to go tomorrow."

UNCG will wrap up the invitational tomorrow, Sunday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m.
