VERO BEACH, Fla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in 13
th place at the Quail Valley Invitational on Monday after moving up two spots in round three from its previous 15th position from rounds one and two.
TEAM
- The Spartans finished the two-day invitational with a three-over-par (867).
- UNCG's 13th place finish comes out of 16 teams that competed at the tournament.
- The squad earned a six-over-par (294) in the final round.
- 12 of the 16 teams at the tournament finished with a score under-par.
- University of South Florida came out on top at the tournament with a 38-under-par (826).
- University of Toledo followed closely behind for second place with a 37-under-par (827).
INDIVIDUAL
- Kelvin Hernandez finished on top for the Spartans in a tie for 23rd with an overall score of four-under-par (212).
- The freshman had the best game of his collegiate career in the second round of the tournament with a five-under-par (67). He completed round three of Quail Valley even par (72).
- Randall Hudson followed behind Hernandez tied for 42nd place after earning par (216) in the tournament. Hudson's best score of the tournament came in round two with a two-under-par (70).
- Symon Balbin tied for 50th place at the invitational after recording an overall score of one-over-par (217). Balbin notched par (72) in the first two rounds and a one-over-par (73) in the final round.
- Jack Marcotte followed behind Balbin with a six-over-par (222) finish in a tie for 69th.
- Sam Davidson rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans with a tie for 82nd place with a 15-over-par (231).
- Hernandez carded 13 birdies over the three-round tournament, with 10 of those coming in the first and second rounds alone.

Four Spartans are in individual competition at the Phoenix Invitational from Monday, Oct. 16 to Tuesday, Oct. 17. The team will host the Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. at Bryan Park from Sunday, Oct. 29 to Tuesday, Oct. 31 for its final tournament of the fall.
