LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS

• UNCG most recently earned a 63-60 win over Radford on Saturday.
• Saturday's game was a back-and-forth battle, coming down to the wire. 
• Ayanna Khalfani was able drive through the paint, making a layup, putting the Spartans up (62-60) in the team's final possession.
• Isys Grady added one more score for the Spartans at the free-throw line for the 63-60 win.
• Three Spartans scored in double-figures.
• Khalfani led the way with 13 points, while Nia Howard and Jayde Gamble paced the Spartans with 10 points apiece.
• Khalfani and Khalis Cain landed on top with eight rebounds apiece.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

• The Spartans come into Monday's matchup 3-1 overall.
• The Spartans dropped their season opener at App State on Monday, Nov. 6 by just two scoring possessions, 71-65.
• Since then, UNCG has won its last three contests.
• UNCG is undefeated at home after claiming a 61-30 win over South Carolina State, followed by another dominating win over Pfeiffer, 93-25.
• Gamble is ranked fourth nationally in steals per game with a 4.67 average over the four-game stretch.
• Grady leads The Southern Conference (SoCon) with a field-goal percentage of 60 this season.
• Khalfani leads the Spartans with 51 points and 13 dimes.
• Gamble and Kelly Boyle lead UNCG from behind the arc with five three-pointers apiece on the 2023-24 stanza.
• The Spartans were picked to finish sixth in the 2023-24 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, trailing ETSU, Chattanooga, Mercer, Wofford and Furman and coming in front of Samford and Western Carolina.
• After Grady's efforts in the 2022-23 season, the junior was named the 2023-24 SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team.

SCOUTING THE HOKIES

• Virginia Tech heads into Monday's matchup ninth in the country with a 2-1 overall record.
• The Hokies are undefeated at home this season with their only loss coming against No. 3 Iowa, 80-76 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
• As a team, the Hokies rank nationally in the top ten in five statistical categories this season. They are second in blocks per game, third in three-pointers per game, sixth in field goal percentage, seventh in free-throw percentage and eighth in assist/turnover ratio. 
• Georgia Amoore is currently seventh nationally with 28 assists and third in assists per game with a 9.3 average.
• Elizabeth Kitley is ranked first nationally with a 100 percent free-throw percentage.
• Kitley was picked as the ACC Preseason Player of the Year after receiving 46 out of 61 votes.
• Amoore was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team with two first place votes of her own.
• The Hokies most recently dominated in a 105-36 win over Houston Christian in Blacksburg.
• Amoore had a career high of 16 assists and Virginia Tech had six players score in double figures in it's last time out.
• Kitley led the Hokies with 23 points.

SERIES HISTORY
The Spartans trail the Hokies in the overall series at 1-7. The last time the two teams met was the 2008-09 season in Blacksburg when the Hokies defeated the Spartans by just two scoring possessions, 59-53. UNCG claimed its only victory over Virginia Tech back in the 1992-93 season, 63-54.
