Coastal Carolina Earns Win Against Men’s Tennis

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team secured the doubles point against Coastal Carolina, but the Chanticleers took the win 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
 
The Chanticleers opened doubles play with a 6-3 win on court three, but the doubles pairing of John Gabelic and David Flisberg tied the match with a 6-4 win on court one.
 
Christopher Johns and Tymofiy Khrystyuk held off Coastal Carolina's duo of Maj Tomac and Ryuya Ata winning the tiebreaker 8-6 and the match 7-6 (8-6).
 
Tomac started off the singles wins for Coastal Carolina with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court four. The next five singles matches were close until the end with three going into third sets, including No. 6 singles going into a tiebreaker during the third set.
 
Johns forced a second-set tiebreaker where Neil O'Connor won with set scores, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) on court five.
 
With the match decided, the Chanticleers' Lucas Wayenburg won with scores of 6-3, 7-6 (13-11) in No. 2 singles over Gabelic.
