GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team looks to bounce back with a home match against non-conference foe Radford on Thursday, February 9.
The Spartans conclude the week traveling to Winston-Salem to visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday, February 11 with a start time of 4 p.m.
About the Spartans
- The Spartans are 2-6 overall this semester.
- UNCG defeated Presbyterian, 6-1, and Longwood, 6-1.
- Raegan Mitchell leads the Spartans with a 5-2 record. Two of the five wins come at number five singles.
- Arina Babkova in the number one singles spot is 3-5, while Luna Urso, splitting time between number four and five singles, is also 3-5 overall.
- Olivia Gallagher is 4-4 overall in singles play, with a 4-1 record in number one singles play.
- Doubles pairing of Hanna Giddings and Gallagher are 4-4 when playing together, all coming at the number one spot.
About Radford
- Radford is traveling to Greensboro after falling to Richmond, 0-6, and Virginia Tech, 0-7, to begin the season.
- Last year, the Highlanders were 10-11 overall and 4-4 in the Big South.
- Emily Brandow and Julia Abrams have won the only doubles match for the Highlanders. They won 6-1 match to a Richmond doubles pair last week.
About Wake Forest
- Wake Forest hosts Furman Saturday morning before welcoming the Spartans.
- The Demon Deacons are currently 3-3 overall.
- Wake Forest also defeated Charlotte, 4-3, and Richmond, 5-2.
- They most recently defeated Campbell on Sunday, February 5, 7-0.
- Anna Brylin is leading Wake Forest with a 10-2 overall record and a 5-0 dual record. She has won four singles matches in the second spot and one in the third spot.
- Nevena Carton and Casie Wooten are both 4-2 in dual matches this semester.
- Brylin is also leading the Demon Deacons with a 4-1 dual doubles record and 11-4 overall.
- Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth are 3-1 this semester in number one singles
